Revisiting Pastime Club

In late March, we made a short run up to Tahoe/Reno for a couple of shows, and in the process, discovered a dope new venue and visited with family and friends who live in the area.

We played Pastime Club in Truckee on March 20. It’s always rad to be there, as it’s a historic dive dating back to the 1880s, and we love the crowd it draws and the owners and staff (shout-out to Shalyn). We also debuted our first vocal songs, written and sung by Donny (coming soon to Spotify and the site; check out “Road Rage,” “Grimace,” and “Sikbwoy Fast Life). Donny also pulled some DJ Batwing bangers in between sets.

Pele Utu

On Saturday, we headed to Reno for our first show at Pele Utu, the raddest tiki bar you’ve never heard of. It’s hidden away inside an Indian restaurant, and although it’s only 2 years old, it’s about as authentic and mid-century as it gets, with low light, velvet Elvis posters, and savage cocktails. Owners Dr. Shocker and Rosie Raddish and their team welcomed us to their tiki paradise by getting us sloshed on Blue Hawaiians and Mai Tai’s (pro tip: plan to share the latter).We can’t wait to go back, check the Shows page for a late summer date.

Afterward, we headed back to our hotel casino and indulged in some late night gambling and pizza. It was a sick weekend with summer-like weather, and we can’t wait to get back for some July shows at the Truckee Brew Fest and The Brewing Lair in Graeagle, followed by some epic mountain biking.
